Board of Trustees:

The board of trustees is elected by the citizens of Lake Dallas ISD to be responsible for ensuring a strong educational program for children in the district.  Trustee elections for three years terms are held in May each year.
Texas law grants the board of trustees the power to govern and oversee the management of the schools of it's district and to adopt rules, regulations and bylaws.  The board makes major decisions regarding school policy, curriculum, expenditures, and expansions.  The board has complete and final control over school matters, but it is limited by law and rules set by the State Board of Education.
Trustees meet at the Lake Dallas Middle School Board Room on the third Monday of each month.  Special meetings may be called when necessary.  A written notice of regular and special meetings will be posted at the Administration Building at least 72 hours before the scheduled meeting time.  The written notice will show the date, time, place and subjects of each meeting.
All meetings are open to the public.  Texas law permits the board to go into a closed meeting only for discussion of prospetive gifts or donations, property acquisition, personnel issues including conferences with employees and employee complaints, security matters, student discipline, or consultation with attorneys.
Part of every regular meeting is set aside for comments from community members.  Trustees encourage public involvement and are interested in comments from constituents.  To be included in this part of the meeting, citizens must register before the meeting begins.  Those registering will be asked to indicate the topic about which they wish to speak.
Voters elect board members the first Saturday in May.  The seven trustees serve staggered three-year terms without pay.  To run for a position on the board, a candidate must be a qualified voter, a resident of the state for 12 months, and a resident of the district for at least 6 months.

Lake Lake Dallas ISD does not discriminate on the basis of sex, handicap, race, color, and/or national origins in its educational programs or employment.
