A data projector can be connected to your computer, neoware, or VCR/DVD player to project the image onto a screen or wall to be viewed by a larger audience.
1. Connect the data projector to the computer or Neoware unit using the data projector cable.
- The cable has a “15-pin end” (looks like its got 15 little pins in the plug portion and is called a “male” connector) this goes to the back of the computer
- If you’re using a laptop, there will be a “female” port with 15 holes to plug into
- If you are using a desktop computer or Neoware unit, you will have to unplug your monitor* and replace it with the “15-pin end” of the cable.
* Your monitor screen will not work – you’ll have to look at the projection from the data projector. The only way to correct this is to use a “Y” (or splitter cable) so you can use your computer’s screen and the data projection. These cables would have to be ordered separately – they don’t usually come standard with a data projector.
- and a “centronic end” – that hooks up to the back of the data projector. It should be obvious where this end of the cable plugs into the data projector.
2. Attach the power cord to the data projector and plug it into an electrical outlet.
3. Turn on the data projector and give it a little time to “acquire” and “perfect” the image.
- For laptops, if you get a blue screen that says “No image detected” or something like that – you’ll need to hold down the “function key” on your computer’s keyboard (lower left-hand corner of the keyboard – “Fn” key) and hit the “function key (top row of the keyboard) with the picture of a screen within a screen. Usually the F3 or F4 key – it’s different for different keyboards.
- If you get no image using a desktop computer, make sure that the“15-pin end” is plugged in securely to the computer.
Then you SHOULD see a message on the projection that says “Perfecting Image.”
- If it still says “No image detected” or something like that – you’ll need to make sure that all your cables are securely in their fittings (and that your computer is turned on).
4. You can focus your image by rotating the lens on the data projector.
