Welcome to the 8th Grade Silver Team!!
We are ecstatic to have such wonderful children in classes this year. If the first couple of weeks are any indication, this will be a truly amazing year! We have put some Frequently Asked Questions below. If you have any further questions, please feel free to visit our personal websites from the Links above.
Q: Who is the Silver Team?
A: We are composed of five core subject teachers.
Juli Bartley - English
Chris Hill - History
Patty Lubeski - Reading
Tina Sharp - Science
Casey Harl - Mathematics
Many additional elective teachers also contribute to the excellent education we deliver at Lake Dallas Middle School. You can see the list of elective teachers by clicking here: http://www.ldisd.net/~ldms/Electives
Q: What is this "teaming" concept and are there any advantages?
A: There are many advantages to thsi organizational structure.
1) Teachers can work together to form interdisciplinary units.
2) Displinary and academic issues are addressed by the entire team.
3) Helps ensure that the kids don't slip through the cracks.
4) Improves communication between teachers as we have regular team meetings.
Q: How can I check my child's grades?
A: Sign up for Family Access which will allow you to check your students academic progress, tardies, and absences from the LD Home Page at http://www.ldisd.net. Grades are updated on-line every Tuesday morning, and forms are available in the front office.
Q: What are the tutorial times for the Silver Team teachers?

Wednesday and Thursday - 8:00-8:30 am

Q: What can I do to help enable my child's academic excellence?
A: The most important thing any parent can do to help their child is to simply "be there" to offer assistance and encouragement (and sometimes some prompting!). Offering to help (while still allowing the child to perform the work), being supportive of the student and teacher, and being involved in the child's education by checking grades, attendance, and tardies regularly are also excellent ways to foster excellent academic performance.
Q: What is ZAP?
A: ZAP stands for "Zeros are Prohibited." It is intended to help encourage students to do homework assignments. If a zero is recorded in the gradebooks, the child will get lunch detention in the cafeteria to work on the homework. One of the silver team teachers will be available during the student's detention time.
