The Prekindergarten program at Lake Dallas Primary School was implemented at Lake Dallas I.S.D. in 1994. Children who qualify for the program attend school for half a day at LDP. A child qualifies for Pre-K if he/she is unable to comprehend the English language or if the family's income qualifies him/her for free or reduced lunch through the National School Lunch/Breakfast Program. Children who are homeless also qualify for the Prekindergarten program.
The Pre-K curriculum covers the following areas: Language and Early Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Health and Safety, Personal and Social Development, Physical Development, and Technology Applications. Each student's progress is evaluated, and progress reports are sent home every six weeks. There are currently two Pre-K teachers, Ms. Brigitte Wood and Ms. Sonya Steadman who share the job of teaching an AM and a PM class assisted by Ms. Milly Setliff.
Children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1st of the current school year to enroll. There is always a Pre-K registration in the spring. Parents will need to bring a copy of their child's birth certificate, a current immunization record, proof of income (preferably your annual income tax form), proof of residency, and a social security card. If you have any questions regarding Prekindergarten, please contact Ms. Wood, Ms. Steadman or Mr. Quisenberry, the principal, at the following e-mail addresses or telephone number:
