• Frankie Burke is the Associate Director of Bands at the high school and Director of Percussion for the Lake Dallas Independent School District.  He directs all aspects of the percussion program grades 6-12, including the beginner class, 7th and 8th grade percussion sections at the middle school, the high school marching percussion program, and all high school percussion ensembles.  He is also responsible for writing and arranging all percussion music for the fall marching band show.  In addition, he assists with the high school Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble.

    Mr. Burke attended William Mason High School in Cincinnati, OH, where he performed at the BOA National Concert Band Festival, BOA Grand National Semi-Finals, WGI World Championships, OMEA State Convention, and the Midwest Clinic.

    Mr. Burke holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas.  While at UNT, he performed in numerous groups, including the Classical Percussion Ensemble, 2:00 Advanced Steel Band, Green Brigade Marching Band, Orchestra, Concert Band, Men’s Choir, and the 2008 PASIC Champion UNT Indoor Drumline.  He studied composition with Joseph Klein, and percussion with world renowned educators such as Mark Ford, Christopher Deane, and Paul Rennick, with whom he also studied percussion arranging.

    As an educator, Mr. Burke has taught privately and worked with many schools across the DFW Metroplex, including the John Horn cluster in Mesquite ISD, the nationally acclaimed Colleyville Heritage High School, and Cross Timbers Middle School in GCISD.  He completed his student teaching in GCISD with JJ Pipitone, Jeff Ausdemore, Jed Weeks, and Asa Burk.  Mr. Burke serves as a consultant for the Plano West Senior High Drumline, as well as an Ensemble Director at the UNT Summer Marching Percussion Camp, where he works with different students from around the nation on marching percussion fundamentals.

    Mr. Burke’s professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society and the Texas Music Educator’s Association. He is an avid Detroit Red Wings hockey fan, and loves driving his Camaro. He lives in Poner where he spends his free time with his wonderful and beautiful wife, Katie (and their Golden Retriever, Lacey).
