• Free Meals for All Students


     

    The United States Department of Agriculture has extended a waiver for all Lake Dallas ISD students to receive breakfast and lunch meals at no cost beginning October 1st through June 30, 2021. 

    In-person learners will go through the cafeteria line as normal to receive their meals at no cost.  Virtual Learners may participate in curbside pickup to receive free meals. This service must be pre-ordered via this Google Form to guarantee meal coverage.  

    Please note that this only applies to regular student meals, as any a la carte items – including second meals, extra side items, snacks and beverages – will keep their regular costs.

  • Do students still need to use their lunch account to get a meal?

    Posted by:
    Yes.  We will still need to account for all students who eat breakfast/lunch at school.  We need to use our point of sale to ensure accuracy.  The only difference is the cost of the meal $0.00 on their individual lunch accounts.  Meal statements can be accessed in Family Access under the Food Service tab.

  • Will there be menu changes now that meals are free?

    We will make menu changes as normal - to introduce new variety and cater to student preferences.  In no way will the menus be condensed or of lesser quality.

  • Will students be able to purchase snacks?

    A la carte items will still be available at all campuses.  A la carte items can be purchased with cash in hand, or charged to accounts with positive funds.  A la carte includes second meals, side items (extra veggies/fries/fruits), chips, cookies, ice cream, beverages, etc.

  • What about the meals my student purchased in August & September?

    Meals at no cost take effect October 1st.  Families are responsible for any charged incurred by the student from 8/26 - 9/30.

  • What about the money on my student's lunch account?

    Any current funds on lunch accounts will remain untouched and available for use in January.  If a student has money in their account, they will be allowed to purchase a la carte items, unless not permitted by parent/guardian.  Families should complete a meal restriction form if they wish to make changes to their student's account.

  • What if my student is a virtual learner?
