PreKindergarten

All children are eligible for PreK 3 and PreK 4, so long as they are age 3 or 4 on or before September 1 of that school year. 

Example: Your child was born on August 1, 2022. The upcoming school year is the 2025-2026 school year. Because your child will be 3 years of age on September 1, 2025, they can enroll in PreK3.

Both residents and non residents of LDISD may attend any grade level at LDISD through our School of Choice enrollment program, including PreK.

All children who live within LDISD Boundaries, are the children of LDISD staff, or grandchildren of LDISD staff, are guaranteed placement in the PreK3 and PreK4 program. 

Students who live outside of district boundaries can apply to attend through our School of Choice enrollment program. 

Lake Dallas Elementary, Corinth Elementary, and Shady Shores Elementary will each have PreK 3 and PreK 4 programs. 

Students who reside within Lake Dallas will attend their zoned campus.  Parents can choose to utilize our school of choice enrollment to have their child attend a campus other than the one they are zoned for.

Transportation will be provided to those who meet the district's criteria for bus transportation, which includes residing within LDISD boundaries. 

Transportation will not be provided mid-day for half day programs. (example:  Your child attends the morning half-day PreK 3 program. Your child can ride the bus to school in the morning. However, a parent/guardian/approved contact will need to provide transportation home upon dismissal at mid-day. As a reminder, half-day program is a parent choice.) 

Full-day PreK 3 and PreK 4 programs will follow the campus hours, 8:00 am-3:30 pm.

PreK 3 half-day programs will be available for morning sessions, which would operate from 8:00 am-11:20 am.

While we love a good schedule, at this age, learning isn’t confined to clocks and calendars: it’s found in finger painting masterpieces, playground games, and wide-eyed wonder. PreK3 and PreK4 will embrace a rhythm that flows with curiosity, imagination, and hands-on exploration. Because whether they're building castles out of blocks or asking “why” for the hundredth time, our little learners are discovering the world in the most meaningful ways. Children will explore the foundations of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies through teacher-guided lessons tailored to their developmental learning levels.

Yes! Students who attend a full-day program will have nap time built into their daily schedule. 

All students at all three of our elementary campuses have breakfast and lunch free, and this includes students in PreK 3 and PreK 4!. Parents may send their child with a lunch if preferred.

Snack time is built into the day, and parents may send a snack for their child.

PreK 3 and PreK 4 classes will have a maximum of 22 students with two instructional staff. 

LDISD is proud to offer these programs to all families, regardless of their qualification status under the Texas Education Agency's free Pre-K guidelines.

However, TEA only provides funding for students who meet these qualifiers. To help fund this newly expanded programming, LDISD will still collect information related to these qualifiers to file with TEA in order to receive state funding.
