Lake Dallas High School Welcomes New Principal, Dr. Colleen Grindle

Lake Dallas ISD is proud to announce the hiring of Dr. Colleen Grindle as the new principal of Lake Dallas High School. A seasoned educator and proven leader, Dr. Grindle brings nearly two decades of experience, a deep commitment to student growth, and a leadership style that blends collaboration, data-informed strategies, and a whole lot of heart.

Dr. Grindle’s journey in education began in the classroom as a speech communications teacher and coach, and has since evolved into a leadership career marked by innovation, integrity, and an unwavering belief in students' potential. Most recently serving as Principal at Harpool Middle School, Dr. Grindle spearheaded initiatives that improved student achievement and teacher efficacy, all while building strong ties with the community.

But what truly set Dr. Grindle apart in the selection process wasn’t just her impressive résumé (though a doctorate in Educational Leadership and a trail of student success doesn't hurt). It was her ability to connect — with students, staff, families, and the broader community. Her empathy, energy, and forward-thinking approach stood out as a perfect fit for the Falcon family.

“We weren’t just looking for someone with the right experience — we were looking for someone with the right heart,” said Dr. Kristin N. Brown, Superintendent of Lake Dallas ISD. “Dr. Grindle’s leadership style aligns beautifully with our district’s mission to empower every student, every day.”

Dr. Grindle is eager to join the Falcon Family and continue a legacy of excellence. “Lake Dallas High School has a reputation for strong academics, a vibrant community, and a commitment to putting students first,” she said. “I’m honored to serve as principal and look forward to growing and soaring with our Falcons.”

Ms. Avelino will continue to serve as Principal through the end of May, before beginning the transition into her new role as Executive Director of Human Resources. Dr. Grindle will begin serving as Principal in June.
