Lake Dallas High School Welcomes New Assistant Principal

Lake Dallas ISD is excited to announce the hiring of Johna Straw in the role of Assistant Principal of Lake Dallas High School!

Mrs. Straw brings nearly three decades of experience in secondary education and instructional leadership to the Falcon family. Throughout her career, she has served as an associate principal, district curriculum coordinator, instructional coach, department chair, and classroom teacher, building a reputation for developing strong instructional systems, coaching educators, and helping students achieve at high levels.

Most recently, Mrs. Straw served as Associate Principal for Curriculum & Instruction at Permian High School in Ector County ISD. She led campus-wide professional learning, guided curriculum alignment, oversaw assessment systems, and worked alongside teachers and administrators to strengthen student achievement through data-driven instruction and collaborative leadership.

Mrs. Straw earned her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin and holds a Texas Principal Certification and T-TESS Appraiser certification. She was recently recognized as the TASSP Region 18 Assistant Principal of the Year for 2025–2026, reflecting her commitment to instructional excellence and student success.
