School Library Advisory Council

In Texas, a School Library Advisory Council (SLAC) was established under Senate Bill 13, to recommend procedures for acquiring and challenging school library materials. The council is composed primarily of parents, as well as community members and school district staff. School boards have final approval over material acquisition after reviewing SLAC recommendations.

The SLAC operates under Board Policy EFB (LOCAL).
