A Little About Me
I graduated from UNT in 2002 with a Bachelor's in Psychology knowing that my heart and passion was to be a counselor. However, I was not ready to begin that journey just yet, so I entered the classroom first with the intention of going back to school to be a school counselor.
After 17 years of teaching Middle School Math, raising two young daughters with my husband, and sorting out some of my own issues, I found that community, transparency within safe relationships, and forgiveness were a pathway to peace and wholeness and I was ready to go back to school.
I attended online school at Lamar University where I received my Master's degree in School Counseling in 2021.
My experience working in Title 1 schools has given me such a heart for others to overcome obstacles and instill hope. I have enjoyed building relationships and friendships with staff and students. I have enjoyed watching others learn, grow and experience joy when they have success.
I look forward to my new role as a school counselor here at Lake Dallas Elementary. I commit to inspiring, educating, and empowering students to manage themselves, learn helpful strategies, and practice positive social skills in an effort to gain social and emotional wellness and academic success that leads to a safe and full life.
