PUBLIC NOTICE - RECORDS TO BE DESTROYED
Lake Dallas ISD Special Education records are destroyed in compliance with federal law five year after the cessation of special education services through graduation, withdrawal, or dismissal of services. Accordingly, LDISD will destroy special education records from 2014-2015 school year or earlier on July 6, 2020. Those students or their legal guardian may request their records prior to destruction by contacting Donnetta Walker, LDISD Sp. Ed. Dept., on or before July 2, 2020, at 940-497-1409 or email to email@example.com.
COVID-19 General Letter to SPED
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lake Dallas ISD is providing distance learning opportunities beginning March 23, 2020. Learning will take place in various ways such as traditional paper packets, individual or family activities, and digital/online platforms when possible.
Students will not be denied distance learning opportunities due to a disability, such as students who receive special education or 504 services. These students will have the same learning opportunities as other students. Additionally, students who receive special education services will have the opportunity to advance on their Individual Education Plans (IEP) to the extent practicable, albeit in a different manner than if they were at school.
Please know, there may be instances where it is not possible to fully implement your child's IEP or 504 plan as currently written. Soon, you will receive correspondence that indicates what the district believes can and cannot be implemented during this period of service disruption. At that time, you can indicate whether you agree or would like further discussion in a meeting. All meetings will be held via web-based meeting applications, phone conference, etc.
Please stay safe and healthy during this time. Additionally, please do not hesitate to contact someone from your student's special education or 504 team if you have questions.
