Lezli Collins: Lake Dallas Middle School Teacher of the Year
"We are so blessed to have Ms. Collins. She is a lot of the sunshine on this campus. She is always the first to ask ‘What can I do?’ and the first to come to say ‘I have a great idea!’ Ms. Collins is incredible, not only to her administrators, fellow staff members and students that enter her room, but to every kid that steps foot on this campus. She sees them all as her own. We are so grateful for her and are honored to recognize Lezli Collins as the Lake Dallas Middle School 2019 Teacher of the Year."
Randall Caldwell, LDMS Principal

Favorite thing about being a teacher . . .
I think my favorite thing about being a teacher is that it affords me the opportunity to be a life-long learner in the art of communication and connection. Since entering this field, I have learned more about how to build relationships with people of all ages. I especially enjoy working with English Language Learners! When they are Newcomers there is a lot of apprehension at first. Once the students are comfortable in class, that apprehension becomes more relaxed and there is a lot more learning (and laughter).
Favorite thing about your campus . . .
My favorite thing about working at LDMS is the support I feel from my administrators and co-workers. In the field of education, the building of relationships is key to creating an environment where both staff and students feel accepted and welcomed.
Favorite thing about LDISD . . .
This is my home. I grew up and graduated from Lake Dallas and am my family's second generation of educators in L.D. It is a pleasure to live and work in my hometown!
