Two Lake Dallas High School student-athletes, Edith Branch and Trent Pollard, signed letters of intent on Friday, Feb. 12, signifying their commitment to continuing their academic and athletic careers in college.

Edith signed her letter of intent with Texas A&M University-Commerce, where she will run for the Lions on their cross country and track and field teams. The Lions compete in the Lone Star Conference and are an NCAA Division II school.

“When she came out to summer practice her first time at Lake Dallas, I was absolutely amazed – she was able to keep up with the top guys and beat 80% of the guys her first time,” said Jessica Prickett, Edith’s cross country coach. “…I am so excited about her future and can’t wait to see what she does in college.”

Trent signed his letter with the University of Texas at Tyler, where he will compete on the golf team. The Patriots also compete in the Lone Star Conference and are an NCAA Division II school.

"I was driven from a really young age,” Trent told the Lake Cities Sun. “I picked up golf and I was immediately obsessed with it. Every waking moment that I spent, it was about golf. It's a dream come true. I'm really excited."
