Congratulations to Lake Dallas High School senior, Caelyn Gunn (Gunny). At the August 24, 2021 Volleyball match against Kennedale High School, Gunny recorded her 1,000th dig and 1,000th kill for LD Volleyball, a Lake Dallas ISD record.
If you are not familiar with the sport of Volleyball and its terminology, you are most likely wondering what is a dig and a kill. A dig is a defensive bump that keeps the ball from hitting the floor when it’s sent to your side of the court with an offensive attack, usually a spike. A kill is a spike, or attack, in volleyball that cannot be returned by the defensive team, therefore, resulting in an immediate point for the offensive team. To reach this number in both areas is a huge accomplishment.
To support Gunny and her team, and all the other LD athletes, check out the Athletics website for information on upcoming events.
