LDHS Student Randi Luke Receives 'Best in Schools' Award
Each year in the spring, Congressman Burgess’ office participates in the Congressional Art Competition. This nationwide competition provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the talent of high school students and acknowledge our nation's gifted young adults. Since the U.S. House of Representatives created the competition in 1982, hundreds of thousands of talented high school students have served as artistic ambassadors of their communities. This annual contest is open to public, private and home-schooled high school students residing and/or attending schools located in the 26th Congressional District. The guest art jurist for the 20222 competition was professional artist/educator, Ms. Sharon Warwick. Ms. Warwick indicated “my criteria for evaluating art are concept, craftsmanship and creativity. These students are amazing artists, and I enjoyed this process very much.”
We are happy to announce that freshman, Randi Luke, received the "Best in School" award from the art competition juror, and will receive a “Special Certificate of Congressional Recognition.”
This show also wraps up the LDHS Visual Arts show competition season. We couldn't be more proud of all our amazing and talented students that participated in this school year's competitions, showing everyone that LDHS and LDISD have some of the best student artists in the State!
Thank you all so much for your continued support, and be on the lookout for our 3rd Annual Virtual District Art Show coming soon!
