Lady Falcon Golf Celebrates 2 College-Bound Athletes

Golf Signing LDHS held a signing day event for seniors Samantha Friday and Carolina Kysiak on May 10 to celebrate their accomplishments and witness signing their letters of intent. The Lady Falcon golfers will continue their careers playing at the collegiate level as they pursue higher education degrees.

“It is fitting that these two are signing as a team – they have both started as freshman, were All District, shared team MVP honors, and both are excellent team members and leaders, so it is appropriate that have a dual signing,” Joseph Kysiak, Head Golf coach said. “They are both headed to strong collegiate Division II golf programs, and I am very proud of them and thank everyone to coming to share in their accomplishments.”

Samantha Friday, daughter of Sonja Zimmerman and Corey Ballew, signed with Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma.  The 4-year letterman began her Lady Falcon Golf career as Newcomer of the Year in 2015-16, and since has continued receiving accolades including 3 years of 1st Team All District honors and Regional Qualifier status with Honorable Mention All Region in 2017-18. She is also active in the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) organization at LDHS where she is serving as Vice President and represented LDHS at state competition this year.

“I chose Northwestern Oklahoma State University because I admired their relationship with the community, and their drive to always put education and getting a degree at the forefront of why you go to college,” Samantha said.

Carolina Kysiak, daughter of Joseph and Penelope Kysiak, signed with Southern Arkansas University.  She is a 4-year letterman with many accomplishments including All District Honors each year - Honorable Mention as a freshman and 1st or 2nd Team each of her sophomore through senior years. Carolina is also a 3-time Regional qualifier and team MVP.  She plans to major in Environmental Engineering at SAU.

“This is a great opportunity for me to play collegiate golf for a DII school,” Carolina said. “After visiting the beautiful campus and meeting not only the coach, but the entire team, I felt very comfortable in make a commitment to the school.”
