Corinth’s Valeria Gulino earns Texas Cultural Trust teaching grant
The Texas Cultural Trust has awarded Corinth Elementary School music teacher Valeria Gulino a first-year teaching grant for arts access, placing her among just 14 educators in the state to receive the award.
Ms. Gulino received a $1,500 grant from the trust, which supports qualified arts education teachers to serve Title 1 communities. The trust exists to support increasing access and awareness for the arts and artists across Texas. It was founded in 1995 following the Texas Legislature’s approval of a cultural endowment fund to provide a permanent funding source for cultural arts in Texas.
Of the 14 grant winners, Ms. Gulino is the only educator in a Denton County school to earn the funding. She graduated cum laude from the University of North Texas in 2020 with a degree in choral and instrumental music and a teaching certification. Ms. Gulino is an accomplished musician herself, having played the flute with the University Band during her time at UNT.
